STORM UPDATE!

RIEGELSVILLE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT BULLETIN

(10-26-2012 2:00PM): Possible Flooding

As we continue to track two (2) storms approaching from both the south and west; the National Weather Service has issued a 90% PROBABILITY that our area will sustain a somewhat major impact.  The storm track/severity is still subject to change.

In the event that the storm continues as predicted; we can expect the following:

At a minimum…six (6) to eight (8) inches of rain commencing Sunday afternoon and ending sometime Wednesday or Thursday.  The worst could occur on Tuesday.  Heavy record flooding of streets, creeks and the river could occur. Be prepared to evacuate to higher ground if ordered.  Preparation should begin now to elevate all valuables to a higher area if you have been prone to flooding in the past.  We do not anticipate any snow and/or ice to occur at this time.

Power outages can be expected to occur due to falling trees and limbs.  Both PennDOT and MetEd have already made arrangements for added storm response. Also, the Township road crew, Emergency Management, Fire Company and EMS will be beefed up and prepared for immediate response when the situation warrants.  Winds are expected to be moderate at about 20-30 MPH.

Charge all devices; cell phones, laptops, shavers, etc. ahead of time and keep them charged.

Riegelsville Water Co. has reserved a generator if we should have a power outage at the Borough Well that provides the Borough with water.
