{"id":7101,"date":"2020-03-24T11:35:44","date_gmt":"2020-03-24T15:35:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/riegelsville.org\/?p=7101"},"modified":"2020-03-24T11:35:44","modified_gmt":"2020-03-24T15:35:44","slug":"march-23-2020-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/riegelsville.org\/?p=7101","title":{"rendered":"March 23, 2020 Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1 class=\"h3\">Governor Wolf and Health Secretary Issue \u2018Stay at Home\u2019 Orders to 7 Counties to Mitigate Spread of COVID-19<\/h1>\n<div class=\"row collapse\">\n<div class=\"small-6 columns \">\n<p class=\"h6\">March 23, 2020<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"news-image\" class=\"news-image\" role=\"img\" src=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Governor-Wolf-and-Secretary-Levine.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"news-post-category text-weight-bold\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/topic\/press-release\/\" rel=\"category tag\">PRESS RELEASE<\/a>, \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/topic\/public-health\/\" rel=\"category tag\">PUBLIC HEALTH<\/a><\/div>\n<p><em>Order Effective at 8:00 PM in Allegheny, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Monroe, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/03.23.20-TWW-COVID-19-Stay-at-Home-Order.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Governor Wolf\u2019s Order<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/03.23.20-SOH-Stay-at-Home-Order.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Secretary of Health\u2019s Order<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/03.23.20-Stay-At-Home-Order-Guidance.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Stay at Home Guidance<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Governor Tom Wolf and Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine today issued \u201cStay at Home\u201d orders to Allegheny, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Monroe, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties, as the state seeks relief to save lives and stop the spread of COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>This order takes effect at 8:00 PM on Monday, March 23, 2020, and will continue until\u00a0April 6, 2020.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.media.pa.gov\/Pages\/Education-Details.aspx?newsid=814\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">All schools statewide<\/a>\u00a0will also remain closed through at least April 6, 2020.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remain deeply concerned about this public health crisis and we must continue to take careful but critical steps now to mitigate the spread of COVID-19,\u201d Gov. Wolf said. \u201cWe are issuing these orders because Pennsylvanians\u2019 health and safety remains our highest priority.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe number of cases continues to grow and so we must take further steps to stop the spread of this contagious and dangerous novel virus to protect the public\u2019s health and mitigate the risk to our hospital system,\u201d Dr. Levine said. \u201cThere is one way to make sure people don\u2019t need to be hospitalized and we don\u2019t strain our health care system: Stay calm. Stay home. Stay safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Individuals may leave their residence only to perform any of the following allowable individual activities and allowable essential travel:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Tasks essential to maintain health and safety, or the health and safety of their family or household members (including pets), such as obtaining medicine or medical supplies, visiting a health care professional, or obtaining supplies they need to work from home<\/li>\n<li>Getting necessary services or supplies for themselves, for their family or household members, or as part of volunteer efforts, or to deliver those services or supplies to others to maintain the safety, sanitation, and essential operation of residences<\/li>\n<li>Engaging in outdoor activity, such as walking, hiking or running if they maintain social distancing<\/li>\n<li>To perform work providing essential products and services at a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.governor.pa.gov\/newsroom\/gov-wolf-secretary-levine-provide-updated-guidance-stress-need-for-compliance-as-cases-rise\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">life-sustaining business<\/a><\/li>\n<li>To care for a family member or pet in another household<\/li>\n<li>Any travel related to the provision of or access to the above-mentioned individual activities or life-sustaining business activities<\/li>\n<li>Travel to care for elderly, minors, dependents, persons with disabilities, or other vulnerable persons<\/li>\n<li>Travel to or from educational institutions for purposes of receiving materials for distance learning, for receiving meals, and any other related services<\/li>\n<li>Travel to return to a place of residence from an outside jurisdiction<\/li>\n<li>Travel required by law enforcement or court order.<\/li>\n<li>Travel required for non-residents to return to their place of residence outside the commonwealth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following operations are exempt:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Life-sustaining business activities<\/li>\n<li>Health care or medical services providers<\/li>\n<li>Access to life-sustaining services for low-income residents, including food banks<\/li>\n<li>Access to child care services for employees of life-sustaining businesses that remain open as follows: child care facilities operating under the Department of Human Services, Office of Child Development and Early Learning waiver process; group and family child care operating in a residence; and part-day school age programs operating under an exemption from the March 19, 2020 business closure Orders.<\/li>\n<li>News media<\/li>\n<li>Law enforcement<\/li>\n<li>The federal government<\/li>\n<li>Religious institutions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Individuals experiencing homelessness are not subject to this order but are strongly urged to find shelter and government agencies are urged to take steps needed to provide shelter for those individuals.<\/p>\n<p>International students, foster youth, and any other students who would otherwise experience displacement or homelessness as a result of campus closures are exempt and may remain in campus housing.<\/p>\n<p>At this time, law enforcement will be focused on ensuring that residents are aware of the order and informing the public of social distancing practices rather than enforcement. To report a noncompliant business, contact your local law enforcement agency\u2019s non-emergency number or the nearest Pennsylvania State Police station. Please do not call 911 or the Department of Community and Economic Development to file reports.
