Riegelsville Public Library – Art For Kids In The Summer<\/strong><\/p>\n Stars, Stripes, and Much More – Celebrating America and American Art<\/strong><\/p>\n The Riegelsville Public Library is offering free art classes for children ages 7 to 15<\/strong> in July & August 2026 (Tuesdays). Instructor: Alexandra Rutstein<\/p>\n Parents\/guardians are welcome to stay and help during each class.<\/strong><\/p>\n July 21, 2026 (10 am – 12 pm): Norman Rockwell – A Whimsical and Seriouis Glimpse Into American Life –<\/strong> Children will learn about Norman Rockwell and his phenomenal artistic ability to depict the lives of ordinary people in America. We will talk about some tricks he used to put together his most lively compositions. Students will paint a storytelling picture of a day in your family life of their choice. You can bring photos or paint by memory and imagination.<\/p>\n July 28, 2026 (10 am – 12 pm): Andy Warhol – Marylins, Campbell’s Soup Cans, and Much, Much More –<\/strong> In this class, we will talk about Andy Warhol and the pop art movement. We will paint a self-portrait in Andy Warhol’s style and a pop art inspired painting of an object of your choice. Please bring a photo of you (a photo on a cell phone works!) and a small object that you would like to paint.<\/p>\n August 4, 2026 (10 am – 12 pm): Robert Rauschenberg – White Paintings, Tire Prints, and ‘Combines’ –<\/strong> We will talk about the relentless artistic search and experiments of Robert Rauschenberg with the main focus on his ‘combines.’ Children will create ‘combines’ of their own using cardboard, paints, and found objects. Please bring to class any random or meaningful small objects that you would like to include in your artwork. You can also bring a large piece of cardboard.<\/p>\n August 11, 2026 (10 am – 12 pm): Louise Bourgeois – Memories & Emotions, and Tapestries & Spiders –<\/strong> Children will learn about Louise Bourgeois and her way of expressing and fighting emotions through making art.. We will create sculptures that can address our emotions (happy or not-so-happy – you choose). We will be using wire, clay, cardboard, wood, and other materials. We might even add some embroidery, if you like! Please don’t forget to bring photos, images, pieces of wood and wire, and your full spectrum of creativity!<\/p>\n Registration for classes is required.<\/strong> 12 spots are available.
